2008 Season Underway

Th e 2008 season got underway at the Forest of Galtres course near York with the traditional Lads .v. Dads Challenge on the particularly foul afternoon of April 18th, the Lads winning on the eighteenth green of the last match. Congratulations to them.

We moved on to Selby on 23rd May where the morning team competition was won by John Wharton, Nick Randall and the Secretary after a count back (unsurprisingly conducted by the Secretary).
The afternoon competition was won by Nick (I don't have much time to play these days) Randall with 39 points, new member Glen Hopkinson was runner up (after a count back) with 36, Captain Adams was the other podium occupier. Two's were a plenty and the pot was shared between the Captain, Mike Armistead (only one roll from an ace at the 15th), Graham Bradley and Rod Farquhar. The Secretary won the longest drive amid calls for random drugs testing. Rod (21 points) also won the Dick of the Day award. Eighteen took part in the afternoon and all praised the course and its condition for the time of year.
The Caravan moves to Harrogate on 20th June in the hope that by then the summer will have arrived.
The Captain's away weekend will take place on June 7th and 8th at Scarborough South Cliff and Bridlington Links. Other days for the season are Wakefield on July 18th, Rotherham on 15th August with Captain's Day at Scarthingwell on Friday 5th September.
