Captain's Away Wekend 2007

The away weekend this year was held on 7th and 8th July. We visited Thirsk and Northallerton GC on the 7th and had a very enjoyable round of golf with the Captain carding a winning score of 35 points. Graham Bradley and Rod Farquhar finish joint second one point adrift. Nick Randall won the nearest the pin. After lunch the convoy headed up country to Saltburn-by-the-Sea to stay overnight at Hunley Hall and play the 18 hole links course on Sunday. The Saturday evening was given over to card schools and moderate drinking where the Captain and Vice Captain persuaded some 'novices' to join them in a school of shoot pontoon. Sunday morning found the pair counting their losses whilst others who need to remain nameless (to avoid congestion in the divorce courts) gloated at their new found prosperity. The older and wiser heads were content to play solo for seven hours at moderate stakes with no one ending up losing more than a couple of quid. A bright and sunny Sunday morning was host the final 18 holes on the Jubilee Course at Hunley Hall where the Captain recouped some of his losses by recording a fine round of 38 points, joint second went to Bob Seaton and Chris Adams with 36 beating Graham Bradley on count back. Chris Adams won the nearest the pin. Overall winner for the weekend was the captain with a total of 73 points, Graham Bradley was second with 70 points and Chris Adams took the bronze with 65 point.
Everbody agreed that it had been a tremendous weekend and thanked Bob Seaton for organising it all. Everone is looking forward to next years event.
