Rules
- Aberford Resident classes: All produce must have been grown
by the exhibitor.
- Open Classes: Any person may exhibit.
- Intending exhibitors must give notice on an official entry
form not later than 8 pm on the eve of the show noting which
class they intend to compete in, accompanied by an entry fee
of 10 p entry.
- Ladies Classes: Exhibitors in these classes will be permitted
to enter exhibits to 10:30 am on the day of the show.
- Children’s classes: Free entry to classes but exhibits must
be registered on an official entry form.
- It is expected that exhibitors will donate exhibits for sale
at 3:15 pm in aid of society funds. Exhibits not for sale must
be clearly marked.
- Exhibits may be staged between 7 pm and 8 pm on Friday night
and between 9 and 11 am on Saturday morning using their own
containers for which the society holds no responsibility.
- The decisions of the judges will be final and they are empowered
to withhold any prize where there is insufficient merit.
- Exhibitors may only take one prize per class.
- Prize money may be collected between 3.30 and 4.30 pm on the
day of the show. Unclaimed prize money to be put to the show
funds.
- Challenge Trophies: After presentation these must be signed
for and left for engraving. After receiving them, the winners
hold them until 1st August the following year when they must
be returned in polished condition to the show secretary.
- Points: 1st = 5, 2nd = 3, 3rd = 1 (there will be no shared
trophies)
- Prize money, except where stated otherwise, will be: 1st =
60p, 2nd = 30p, 3rd = 10p.
- All trophy winners will be notified when to collect their
trophies.
Garden News Top Vase Class Rules

The Garden News Top Vase Class is for a vase
of mixed flowering stems containing a total of between five
and tens stems, taken from a minimum of two different kinds
of plants (note that two varieties of the same plant are NOT
two kinds.

The display will judged out of total of 35
points, split into: 25 points for the colour, form, condition,
quality and freshness of the flowers on display, and 10 marks
for the overall presentation and effect of the flowers in
the vase. The vase will be viewed from all directions. Judging
of the flowers will be to the normal rules used for other
classes.

Stems used in the display must be showing
flowers only: no seed heads or berries will be allowed.

The vase can be any shape and size and made
from any material, but must be in proportion to the display.
No marks are awarded for the vase itself.

No accessories whatsoever - like bows and
additional foliage - will be allowed. Foliage which is growing
naturally from the flowering stem, and still attached to that
stem will be allowed. Packing material, including floral foam,
to keep stems in place is allowed.

The winner of the Garden News Top Vase class
will receive the Top Vase Gold Medal plus a £10 seed voucher.
The runner-up will receive the Silver Medal plus a £5 seed
voucher. Third place will receive the Bronze Medal and a £3
seed voucher.
Unused medals should be returned to March Malls
